About USIronworks is a small blacksmiths / steel fabrication company based in Crawley, West Sussex. The majority of our work tends to be in and around West and East Sussex, Surrey and Kent. Everything we make is made to order, either from designs given to us from our customers in photgraphic or drawing form, or designed to our customers specification. There is no such thing as a standard size gate or railing, and if you are going to have something made you might as well have it the way you want it rather than an off the shelf product We do almost no advertising and prefer to rely on the word of mouth for business, if you doing something right people find out, equally if your doing it wrong they find out as well. Feedback from customers be it good or bad is a very important part of our bussiness, it allows any company the chance to improve there service and quality of there workmanship, and find out what they are doing right or wrong. This web portal is designed to be informative and helpful to any one wishing to purchase any form of wrought iron or metal work. We have included a link to the current building regulation, part K which is the section that covers stair case, hand rails etc,that can be found here. We have also included a glossary of terms, a brief explantation of terms you might hear, such as galvanising etc, to make life a little easier. We will work on the informative side of this and add more over time. We prefer to do as much work 'inhouse' as possible, making our own scrolls etc rather than purchasing off the shelf scrolls from the far east, and would certainly never attempt to pass them off as handforged. Not that there is anything wrong with bought in components, but you just cant charge the same money for high quality hand forged scrolls as you can cheap bought in scrolls, and you certainly should never attempt to pass them off as such. Having said that bought in scrolls can be a cheaper alternative and certainly reduces the cost of making a gate, if the requirement is to make a gate or railing on a tight budget.
